A 66-year-old man was killed Sunday morning after the vehicle his wife was driving left U.S. Highway 101 about 25 miles north of Shelton, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Stanley N. Johnston of Brinnon was the passenger in a 2003 Toyota Highlander that was heading north about 5:46 a.m. when it left the road and struck a tree just before the Hamma Hamma Bridge, according to the WSP.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Candis L. Johnston, 64, of Brinnon, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with leg, torso and head injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.
The cause of the mishap is under investigation.
