A body found Saturday in a waterfilled ditch near railroad tracks in Shelton has been identified as that of an 81-year-old man, according to the Mason County coroner.
The body of Donald R. Aldrich of Shelton was discovered by a watchman walking alongside the tracks near the abandoned ITT research lab buildings off Harvard Avenue, coroner Wes Stockwell said in a news release.
It is unknown how long Aldrich’s body was in the ditch.
A cause and manner of death had not been determined, and an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
The Shelton Police Department was investigating the death.
