Thurston County government offices will briefly close Thursday for a lockdown drill, according to a county news release.
Drills for buildings 1, 2 and 3 will begin at 1 p.m.; Building 4, Heritage Court and Assigned Counsel drills will be at 2:30 p.m. The drill at Juvenile and Family Court begins at 1 p.m.; it’s 2 p.m. for Public Health and Social Services. The drills will last about 10 minutes.
Visitors in the courthouse will be asked whether they want to stay and participate or come back upon completion. An announcement will be made prior to the start of the drill, according to the county.
The drills are part of Disaster Preparedness Month as declared by the governor and by Thurston County commissioners.
