Failed insulators on Bonneville Power Administration high voltage transmission lines near Shelton were the cause of two power outages for Mason PUD 3 customers on Saturday, according to a news release.
The damaged insulators were on BPA transmission lines that feed electricity to a substation that serves just over 4,000 customers in south Mason County. The location of the damaged equipment was near BPA facilities in the Mountain View area of Shelton.
Power to the substation was lost at about 12:25 p.m. Saturday. The feed was repaired at 2:10 p.m. The second outage occurred at about 10:30 p.m., with electricity reinstated at approximately 11:50 p.m.
Customers are urged to monitor the status of outages via PUD 3’s social media services, but the best way to report outages is via the outage hotline at 360-432-1533.
