Olympia woman drives into Hood Canal

A 61-year-old Olympia woman drove into Hood Canal on Friday after she allegedly fell asleep at the wheel of her truck.

According to the Washington State Patrol:

About 5 p.m. Friday, the woman was southbound on U.S. Highway 101, about 8 miles north of Shelton, when her vehicle veered off the road to the left, went over an embankment and landed in Hood Canal.

The woman was injured and later taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton.
