A section of 14th Avenue Southwest in Olympia will require “extensive repair” after a water main failure early Sunday.

The water main broke about 1:30 a.m. east of Decatur Street, according to a city of Olympia news release. Service was restored Sunday, and water use is unrestricted, the city said.

However, residents are looking at the possibility of several weeks of repair work, which is already underway. The south side of 14th Avenue along the dead end east of Decatur Street is closed, and on-street parking is not allowed, the city said.
