Possible DUI triggers 4-car accident in Lewis County

A 42-year-old Olympia woman, thought to be driving under the influence, triggered a four-car accident Saturday after she crashed into the back of a car on Interstate 5, south of Chehalis.

According to a Washington State Patrol news release:

About noon Saturday, three vehicles were stopped on northbound I-5 due to heavy traffic. The Olympia woman then allegedly failed to stop and crashed into vehicle two, which pushed vehicle two into the back of vehicle three, and pushed vehicle three into the back of vehicle four.

The 35-year-old Olympia woman driving vehicle two, a Hyundai Sonata, was injured and taken to Providence Centralia Hospital. Her two passengers, ages 14 and 12, also were injured and taken to the hospital.

The other drivers were not injured.

The 42-year-old Olympia woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
