One elderly woman died and another was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a Lacey grocery store Tuesday evening, according to Sgt. Terence Brimmer of the Lacey Police Department.
The two women, aged 93 and 84, were walking across the parking lot at QFC on Whitman Lane, when they were struck by a mid-sized SUV, Brimmer said. Police and the Lacey Fire Department responded at about 7 p.m.; the 84-year-old was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital and the 93-year-old was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. The 84-year-old was later transported to Harborview Medical Center.
One of the women died while at Harborview Medical Center, Brimmer said.
Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
