Man pulled out of the water near Percival Landing last week was 20, coroner says

A man who was found dead in the water near Percival Landing last week was 20 years old, Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock said Sunday.

The man’s age originally was given a range of 20 to 45 years, but that’s because the body had spent at least two days in the water, Warnock said.

The man was found Wednesday morning by Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation employees and then was recovered by Olympia police.

The cause of death was drowning.

Warnock said he knows the man’s name but was still trying to reach his family before releasing it, he said.

Warnock also had information showing that the man once had an Lacey address. Another time, the man identified himself as a transient, he said.

Anyone with information about the case should call Olympia police at 360-753-8300 or Thurston County/Olympia Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
