Thurston County dentist suspended over concerns she is unable to practice safely

A Thurston County dentist’s license has been suspended by the state Dental Quality Assurance Commission due to concerns that she is unable to practice safely due to a physical or mental condition.

Sherilyn Malloy was charged in Thurston County District Court with violating a protection order.

Criminal charges were dismissed when Malloy was found incompetent to stand trial. Malloy allegedly visited the Department of Health in an incoherent state and responded to staff in rapid, nonsensical, and erratic speech. The commission also charged Malloy with failing to meet the standard of care and with other violations related to record keeping, record confidentiality, and failure to comply with a prior discipline order.

Malloy has 20 days to request a hearing to contest these charges. She cannot practice in Washington until these charges are resolved.
