South Sound Morning: Thursday update

Good morning, today is Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, National Patriot Day, and National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Weather: Sunny, highs near 70 during the day, mostly clear with highs in the upper 40s Thursday night.

Traffic: During the weekends of Sept. 12 and Sept. 19, drivers can expect major traffic impacts while construction crews repair a bridge expansion joint on Interstate 5 in Olympia. The work involves numerous day and night lane and ramp closures on I-5 and State Route 101 over both weekends, as well as creating extensive traffic congestion on northbound and southbound I-5 and on State Route 101 approaching I-5. Tumwater Riverwalk Tour: Stroll through Tumwater’s pioneer and industrial history on a guided walking tour along the Deschutes River, in Tumwater Falls Park beginning at 10:30 a.m., each Wednesday and Friday, now through September. Meet at 10:15 a.m. at the Olympia Tumwater Foundation office, at Tumwater Falls Park, 110 Deschutes Way SW. Recommended parking is the west parking lot closest to Deschutes Way. The tour is approximately one hour, and admission is free.

5th Annual Free Day of Dentistry: Dr. Suneet Bath will hold his 5th annual dental clinic, offering 75-100 people in need of fillings, extractions and cleanings. It is a first-come first-served clinic beginning at 8 a.m., at 4538 Martin Way East #103, Olympia. The Big Climb 2015 Fundraiser Yard Sale: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will benefit from the yard sale from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at Town and Country Roofing, 605 Durell Rd. S.E., in Tumwater.
