Man found at Percival Landing identified

The man found dead at Percival Landing has been identified as 20-year-old Evan L. McGee of Olympia, according to Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock.

The Olympia Police Department recovered his body from the water Sept. 3 after he was found by Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation employees.

The cause of death was drowning, and there were no signs of trauma. Based on his condition, McGee had likely been in the water for two to three days, Warnock said.

McGee was identified using his fingerprints Sept. 5, but Warnock wasn’t able to release his name because his mother, who doesn’t live in Washington, hadn’t been notified of his death. McGee had most likely been living as a transient and was last seen alive on Aug. 31, Warnock said. Authorities still don’t know why he entered the water.
