A 17-year-old Rochester boy was arrested after allegedly causing a collision on Interstate 5 near Tumwater Friday morning. The boy was driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The boy was speeding on northbound I-5 near Trosper Road at about 9:30 a.m. when he struck another vehicle, said Trooper Guy Gill. The boy’s car rolled over and came to a stop on its roof, blocking two lanes for traffic.
The boy was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital with minor injuries. He was arrested when troopers learned that he had been driving under the influence of alcohol. His license had previously been revoked because of alcohol-related charges.
The lanes that were closed due to the collision are now open.
