A 1-year-old Tenino girl died Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle in her driveway, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.
The girl had been playing outside when a 21-year-old woman arrived to pick up another child at about 8:15 a.m., said Lt. Cliff Ziesemer. The child's mother took the other child out to the van, and both women thought the 1-year-old went back inside the house.
The 21-year-old woman started to pull away, running over the 1-year old, Ziesemer said. The child was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither drugs nor alcohol was involved.
"It was just a very tragic accident," Ziesemer said.
