A team from Olympia High School won the Sixth Annual Math Meet at The Evergreen State College last Saturday.
Forty-nine students from four South Sound schools — Henry Foss High School in Tacoma, Olympia High School, and River Ridge and North Thurston high schools in Lacey — participated in the event. More than half of the students qualified to compete in the 2015 Mathleague.org Washington State Championships which will be on April 11, 2015 at Evergreen.
Here are the results:
Overall team winners: first place, Olympia; second place North Thurston; third place, Foss.
Freshman/sophomore team winners: first place, Olympia; second place North Thurston; third place, River Ridge.
Overall individual winners: first place Daniel Grimm, North Thurston; second place Ernest Gu, Olympia; third place Min Choi, Olympia.
Ninth grade winners: first place Vin Somasundaram, Olympia; second place Jasper McAvity, Olympia; Eugene Hua, Foss.
Tenth grade winners: first place Warren Gu, Olympia; second place Kendall Escene, North Thurston; Spencer Johnson, Olympia.
Eleventh grade: first place Daniel Grimm, North Thurston: second place Henry Hua, Foss; third place Theodore Jeremy Ong, Olympia.
Twelfth grade: first place Ernest Gu, Olympia; second place Min Choi, Olympia; third place Ian Culhane, Olympia.
