Saint Martin’s University president to attend White House summit

Saint Martin’s University president Roy Heynderickx is headed to the other Washington to attend the White House College Opportunity Summit on Thursday.

The summit will feature President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and representatives from colleges, universities, business leaders, nonprofits and other supporters of higher education opportunities, according to a news release from Saint Martin’s, a private Benedictine university based in Lacey.

The goal of the summit is to focus on building partnerships that will increase college access to first-generation, low-income and other student groups that are traditionally under-represented in higher education.
