Charges filed against suspect in Lacey Walmart robbery

Robbery charges have been filed against a Puyallup man suspected of robbing the Walmart store in Lacey on Friday.

The 25-year-old man was arrested Saturday in Astoria after running from police.

He had been detained for shoplifting at the store in the 1400 block of Galaxy Drive in Lacey. After he was taken to the security room, police said, he pulled a handgun on store security and escaped.

Working with Lacey police, Astoria police located the suspect at a hotel and began surveillance on his room Saturday while they sought a search warrant.

The man left the hotel room about 6:30 p.m. and ran away when confronted by police. Officers chased down the man and took him into custody.

Also taken into custody from the man’s hotel room were a 46-year-old Puyallup woman and a 25-year-old Tacoma woman.

The Puyallup man was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance (heroin and methamphetamine).

The Puyallup woman was arrested on a warrant from the Washington State Department of Corrections, three counts of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana, heroin, and fentanyl), and distribution of a controlled substance (marijuana).

The Tacoma woman was arrested for hindering prosecution and three counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, heroin and hydrocodone).

Police said some items from the theft at the Walmart had been recovered. The handgun was not found.
