The Tumwater School Board is hosting a community meeting to gather input for a superintendent search at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at the district office board room, 621 Linwood Ave. SW.
The School Board would like input on the following questions: What do you see as strengths of the district and community? What characteristics would you like to see in a superintendent? What challenges do you feel the next superintendent will face?
On Nov. 25, the School Board unanimously voted not to extend superintendent Mike Kirby’s contract, which ends June 30. He has led the nearly 6,300-student district since July 1, 2010.
The board released a statement that said in part, “the board’s evaluation of the superintendent shows a need for new administrative leadership in the district and the improvement of positive working relationships.”
McPherson & Jacobson LLC was hired to lead the search.
