Crash leaves 95 customers in Lacey area without electricity

About 95 customers in the Lacey area were without electricity Thursday afternoon and evening following a car crash on Carpenter Road, according to Puget Sound Energy.

Utility crews were working to repair a damaged power pole, but expected service would be out until about 11 p.m.

Sgt. Ray Brady, of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, said the crash occurred at about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Carpenter Road and Carpenter Hills Loop Road, near the Thurston County Fairgrounds. A driver lost control of his car and struck a power pole. The car rolled over, and the power pole and power lines fell onto the road.

Medics from the Lacey Fire Department examined the driver at the scene, but he wasn’t transported to the hospital, Brady said. There were no passengers in the car, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Carpenter Road was to remain closed at the intersection until repairs to the power pole were complete.
