Three of the top five stories last week were a variation on a theme — the theme being the fire that destroyed the former Capitol City Studios on Fourth Avenue.

1. Tenino man arrested for allegedly beating, raping wife: When officers arrived at the Tenino home, the woman told them that her husband had accused her of cheating on him. She said he pinned her to the ground and forced his hand down her pants.

2. Olympia Rotarian Cathy Carlson dies in skiing accident: Carlson was remembered (last) Monday as a longtime and active Rotarian, as well as a longtime and avid skier. She also had been the chief financial officer at Seattle Shellfish, an Olympia-based company, since the late 1990s, her husband said.

3. Crews to search for victims in burned Olympia building: Crews searched, but no human remains were found.

4. Former church burns in downtown Olympia; woman rescued from roof: As of (last) Monday morning, all that remained of the original Foursquare Gospel Church, built in 1939, was a pile of smoldering rubble.

5. Woman rescued from burning church in downtown Olympia: Firefighters in Olympia rescued a woman from a former church after flames drove her to the roof.
