Sylvia Roberts joins fire commission in Lacey

Lacey native and resident Sylvia Roberts has been appointed to the Lacey Fire District 3 Board of Fire Commissioners.

She replaces Dennis Jones, who resigned in January for health and personal reasons.

Roberts spent her career in education as a teacher, principal and administrator. She retired from the Snohomish School District as the deputy superintendent.

Roberts earned her undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University and a master’s degree from the University of Washington, plus administrator credentials from Seattle Pacific University, according to a news release.

Nine people applied for the commission vacancy. The board interviewed candidates at a special meeting in March before selecting Roberts.
