The Deschutes Way Southwest on-ramp to northbound Interstate 5 will close Tuesday and Wednesday night for construction. The ramp will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 5 a.m. each following morning, according to the city. Drivers are encouraged to access northbound I-5 from the Trosper Road interchange.
Construction crews will be modifying the seal on a bridge expansion joint, which allows the bridge to change with traffic and weather conditions. The work is related to a larger paving project by the state Department of Transportation that included repaving 26 miles between Lakewood and Tumwater. The overall project is expected to extend the pavement’s usefulness for 20 years, according to WSDOT.
