The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag fire warning Saturday morning for much of Western Washington, including Thurston County.
The warning took effect at 8:40 a.m. Saturday and should last until 11 p.m. Sunday, said meteorologist Johnny Burg. It extends from the Cascade Mountains to the Pacific Ocean.
He explained that the warm weather has created the potential for thunderstorms. The storms paired with Western Washington’s dry conditions create a high risk of wildfires.
Anyone who sees a wildfire should call 911.
