Lacey Fire battles brushfire off of Martin Way, police arrest 2 boys as suspects

UPDATE as of 9 p.m. Lacey police said crews responded to the fire about 2 p.m., and the blaze burned about 1.2 acres southwest of River Ridge High School.

Officers talked to two young men seen fleeing the area, who admitted to setting the fire on purpose, police said.

Both were booked on suspicion of second-degree arson.

Detectives said the blaze is linked to another suspicious fire nearby, which the boys allegedly also admitted to setting.

INITIAL POST: As of 3:45 p.m., the Lacey Fire Department is fighting a large brush fire near the intersection of Martin Way and Hoh Street in Lacey.

Battalion Chief Tim Hulse said crews responded to the fire at about 2:30 p.m. The fire is burning about two acres, and no structures are being threatened. Firefighters contained the fire at about 3:15 p.m.
