Oregon woman dies in I-5 collision in Tumwater; other driver arrested

A 26-year-old Seattle man was arrested Saturday following a fatal morning crash on Interstate 5 in Tumwater, according to the Washington State Patrol.

He was booked into the Thurston County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide, said Trooper Guy Gill. Law enforcement officers believe the man was under the influence of drugs at the time of the collision.

A 43-year-old Beaverton, Oregon, woman was killed in the crash. The State Patrol was not releasing her name, pending notification of her family.

Law enforcement responded to the collision at milepost 100 just before 6 a.m. Witnesses reported that the suspect had been traveling north at between 100 and 120 mph. The car rear-ended the victim’s vehicle, which rolled over.

A 31-year-old female passenger in the suspect’s car sustained minor injuries.
