Aberdeen driver with 14 passengers crashes van into tree, WA state patrol says

A 24-year-old Aberdeen man faces a possible charge of negligent driving after he crashed a van with 14 passengers into a tree in Cowlitz County, according to Washington State Patrol.

Several of the 14 passengers, all of whom are men from El Salvador, were hurt in the wreck.

About 6:40 a.m. Nov. 2, the 2013 Ford Econoline passenger van was headed east on state Route 504 near Toutle when troopers say the driver crossed the center line and struck a tree in the westbound ditch.

The 24-year-old driver was hurt plus four of his passengers, ages 19, 27, 34 and 41, according to State Patrol. All were taken to St. John Medical Center in Longview.

The 14 passengers ranged in age from 18 to 48.
