Should Thurston County elected officials make more than $11,000 a month? Weigh in at hearing
The Thurston County Citizens’ Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials will hold a public hearing on its proposed 2024 salaries for officials ranging from County Commissioners to County Clerk.
The citizen commission sets the salaries for the Thurston County Commissioners and makes a recommendation to them regarding the salaries of the elected Assessor, Auditor, Clerk, Coroner, Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, and Treasurer, according to a county news release.
Here are the proposed raises to monthly salaries:
▪ County commissioners: Increase salary 3% from $10,992 now to $11,322 in 2024. The annual salary would be $135,864.
▪ Assessor: Increase salary 3% from $10,992 now to $11,322 in 2024. The annual salary would be $135,864.
▪ Auditor: Increase salary 5% from $10,992 now to $11,542 in 2024. The annual salary would be $138,504.
▪ Clerk: Increase salary 3% from $10,992 now to $11,322 in 2024. The annual salary would be $135,864.
▪ Coroner: Increase salary 3% from $10,992 now to $11,322 in 2024. The annual salary would be $135,864.
▪ Prosecuting Attorney: Increase salary 12% from $16,639 now to $18,659 in 2024. The annual salary would be $223,908.
▪ Sheriff: Increase salary 5% from $13,580 now to $14,259 in 2024. The annual salary would be $171,108.
▪ Treasurer: Increase salary 3% from $10,992 now to $11,322 in 2024. The annual salary would be $135,864.
The public hearing on the proposed salaries is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, in The Atrium, Room 110, 3000 Pacific Ave. SE, Olympia. The meeting also can be watched online.
