Coroner releases ages of 3 people found dead in west Olympia Saturday morning

A 79-year-old woman, a 70-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were found dead Saturday morning in west Olympia, according to the Thurston County Coroner.

Two people were found inside the residence while the third person was outside it, Coroner Gary Warnock said Sunday. All three were killed by apparent gunshots, Olympia police announced on Saturday.

Warnock said he has identified the three people, but he is not releasing names until family has been notified.

One aspect of the investigation is whether the incident was a murder-suicide, Olympia police Lt. Paul Lower said Sunday morning. He added that police are fairly certain that no one fled from the scene of the shooting.

However, police continue to investigate the incident with the help of the coroner and the Washington State Patrol forensic crime scene team, Lower said.

Police have cleared the scene, he added.

About 10:40 a.m. Saturday, Olympia police were dispatched to a residence in 2300 block of 19th Court Northwest after a report of arguing followed by the sound of gunfire.

Police arrived to find the three dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

“Based on the information available at this time, there is no indication of a continued threat to the community,” police announced Saturday.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Thurston dispatch non-emergency line at 360-704-2740.
