Multiple people hurt in 2-car crash in Thurston County, Sheriff’s Office says

Multiple people were hurt in a Saturday afternoon two-car crash in Thurston County, Sheriff Derek Sanders said in a social media post.

About 2:20 p.m., the causing driver “blew (through) a stop sign,” according to Sanders, and T-boned another vehicle in the area of 148th Avenue and Vail Road in Yelm.

The impact of the crash caused the other car to roll over, he said.

“Multiple occupants in both cars were injured, with the driver of the victim vehicle sustaining serious injuries,” Sanders said in his post. “TCSO is investigating whether the driver is impaired as there is no current evidence to suggest that driver ever applied the brakes.”

Thurston County deputies, the sheriff’s office traffic unit and Yelm Police responded to the crash.

The intersection was closed during the investigation, according to Sanders.
