A Yelm man was killed Wednesday morning in Kitsap County when an intoxicated driver struck his motorcycle, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The motorcyclist, 76-year-old Arthur Giddings, was northbound on state Route 3 at Big Valley Road Northeast just after 10 a.m. when a vehicle traveling the opposite direction crossed the center line and collided with him, a State Patrol news release said.
Giddings, a Yelm resident, was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 58-year-old Silverdale man, was transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton with injuries. He was then booked into Kitsap County Jail, where charges are pending.
The road collision site, just north of Poulsbo, was blocked for more than six hours.
