Shots ring out in downtown Olympia; police seek witnesses

Olympia police are searching for suspects who fired seven or eight shots just after midnight Saturday in downtown Olympia.

The shots were fired around 12:13 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue East near Jake’s On Fourth, according to Olympia police. Officers who were already on foot encountered “people running in all directions” on Fourth Avenue after the shots were fired, Sgt. Jim Partin said.

Police closed off the vicinity on Fourth Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing a green car and a red car fleeing the area, Partin said. Police also found shell casings at the scene, but nobody has come forward with injuries, Partin said.

Olympia police have no suspect descriptions or possible motives for the fired shots, Partin said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police Department at 360-704-2740.
