The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a strong-arm robbery that was reported at about 8:15 a.m. Sunday, according to Sgt. Dave Odegaard.
The case involves an alleged assault and theft of some tools and other items from a yard sale near Spurgeon Creek Road Southeast and Yelm Highway Southeast, he said. Two men and a woman were reportedly in a truck that had items in it from the yard sale that they didn’t pay for, Odegaard said. When they were confronted about it from the people who were running the yard sale, a fight broke out. Then, the suspects fled the scene, he said.
Even though there were no weapons, the case is considered a strong-arm robbery because it ended up with a physical altercation, Odegaard said.
“We’ve got some leads that detectives will follow up on,” Odegaard added.
