Tumwater police bust pot-and-booze party at high school greenhouse

Police busted a group of partiers who had broken into a greenhouse at Tumwater High School to drink alcohol and smoke marijuana.

Officers responded to a citizen complaint just after midnight Sunday (Sept. 21) about people inside the greenhouse. Tumwater police arrested six adults and three juveniles, said Det. Jennifer Kolb, adding that a door was broken on one of the school’s greenhouses.

The suspects admitted to entering the greenhouse to drink and smoke marijuana, according to charging documents. Officers found a large bottle of vodka that was partly consumed, along with a half-gallon bottle of what appeared to be whiskey, according to charging documents.

Five of the adult suspects appeared in Thurston County Superior Court on Monday to face charges of second-degree burglary. The suspects were released on their own recognizance, and their arraignments were scheduled for Oct. 7. The status of the juveniles was not available Monday.
