Man shot during early morning armed robbery in Thurston County

A man was shot early Sunday during an armed robbery near Lacey, according to Lt. Cliff Ziesemer, a spokesman for the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting was reported at 4:41 a.m. at Deerbrush Drive Southeast and Seventh Court Southeast, according to a Thurston County dispatcher.

The victim had thrown a party, and one of the female party-goers, who was an acquaintance, asked him for a ride home, Ziesemer said.

“When they got to Deerbrush and Seventh, she said, ‘Pull over here,’ and when they pulled over, a male suspect came out and tried to rob him,’” Ziesemer said. “...Basically it was a set-up by the female.”

The driver was shot in the leg, and was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Ziesemer said.

The shooting suspect was arrested and booked into Thurston County Jail early Sunday, and later the woman was too, Ziesemer said.
