Driver arrested after allegedly driving 140 mph on I-5 near Lacey

A 22-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after he drove 140 mph on Interstate 5 near Martin Way, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Trooper Guy Gill said a trooper saw the car, a 2007 Chrysler 300, speeding northbound on I-5 and initiated a traffic stop. The driver wasn’t impaired. When the trooper asked why he was speeding, the driver said, “I didn’t know I was going that fast.”

The driver was taken to the Thurston County Jail.
