Olympia police are searching for a man accused of assaulting an Intercity Transit security guard Thursday morning.
Lt. Paul Lower said the suspect had been loitering at the Olympia Transit Center, using foul language and frightening customers. At about 7 a.m., the security guard asked the man to leave.
The man left willingly, but came back a few minutes later. He yelled at the security guard and punched him in the face repeatedly.
Witnesses called the police, and one customer pulled the suspect off of the guard. The assault stopped for a few minutes, but the suspect started punching the guard again.
The suspect and another man fled before police arrived.
Lower said the security guard suffered some injuries, but he wasn’t taken to the hospital.
Police have some leads regarding who the man is, but he hasn’t been located.
