Man arrested, charged after alleged luring at Tumwater mobile home park

A man was arrested Friday night on suspicion of luring a 9-year-old boy at a mobile home park in Tumwater.

Donald Keith Annis, 61, appeared Monday in Thurston County Superior Court. Bail was set at $20,000, and arraignment was set for June 2.

Court documents give the following account:

The 9-year-old boy had been playing Friday in a park at the Allimore Carriage Estates mobile home community at 5705 Littlerock Road SW when Annis approached him. Annis asked the boy if he would like to go into the nearby woods and look at some trucks he was thinking about buying.

After they went some distance, Annis allegedly forced the victim to the ground and told him it was time to pray. The victim eventually was able to break away.

The boy’s mother confronted Annis a short time later, and the woman told police he threatened her with an ax. When questioned by police, Annis said the boy had followed him into the woods. Police also administered a breath test, which showed Annis had a blood alcohol content of 0.142 percent, nearly twice the legal limit for driving.

Detective Jen Kolb told The Olympian that Annis had been staying at another trailer in the mobile home community. At Monday’s court hearing, Annis said he had just moved to the area from Los Angeles.
