Bail was set at $20,000 on Monday for an Olympia man accused of first-degree rape.
Cecil M. Capoeman, 20, pleaded not guilty Monday in Thurston County Superior Court. His next court appearance will be June 2.
Capoeman was arrested May 15 on a warrant. According to court documents, he is accused of raping a woman April 5 at his apartment.
Detectives from Port Angeles initially interviewed the victim and contacted Olympia police.
During a recorded phone call between Capoeman and the victim, he admitted to biting and choking her during the incident and apologized for hurting her, according to court documents. He told the victim that he did not intend to get that rough with her and said he blacked out and didn’t remember much about what happened, documents show.
