The state Department of Health has suspended the license of a former Providence St. Peter Hospital nursing assistant after she allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old patient.
Stefani H. Martin, 26, was arrested in early May and is charged in Thurston County Superior Court with three counts of third-degree child rape, one count of third-degree child molestation and one count of furnishing liquor to a minor.
She was released on $7,500 bail and is scheduled to stand trial in August.
In the meantime, Martin is barred from practicing in Washington until the charges are resolved, according to the Department of Health. She may ask for a hearing to contest the charges.
Martin worked at the hospital for about a year, but hasn’t worked there since the allegations were made, according to Thurston County Superior Court documents.
Deputy Prosecutor Carol La Verne said the 15-year-old boy had been involuntarily committed at Providence St. Peter Hospital when he and Martin met. According to court documents, Martin and the victim rented a room together April 13 and engaged in sex acts.
