Position open for baby-sitting

Girl Scouts who want credit for their baby-sitting merit badges can apply for a temporary position in September at an Olympia synagogue during High Holy Days services.

Congregation B'nai Torah needs one or more trustworthy girls to care for children at the synagogue during services on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

The dates to choose from are 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 13; 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14; 9:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 15; 6:45 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 21; and 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 22.

Families invited to learn about school

Mariah Art School plans two upcoming open houses.

The events are set for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the school, 1403 Garfield Ave. N.W., Olympia.

The open houses are intended to provide an opportunity for new, returning and interested families to meet the school's director and teachers and to find out about 2007-2008 school-year programs.
