OLYMPIA: Oly High kids excel at math competition

A team from Olympia High School came out on top at the mathleague.org Washington State High School Math Championship tournament, held at The Evergreen State College over the weekend, according to a news release from the college.

Team results:

First: Olympia High School, Kirsten Allen, Konane Bay, Mira Early, William Hoza, James Malloy, Austin Miner, and Yuchen Mou. Second: Stadium High School, Erik Chou, Chris Han, Richard Lee, and Kyle Whitcomb. Third: Tumwater High School, Dylan MacKenzie.

Overall individual winners:

First: Erik Chou, Stadium High School. Second: William Hoza, Olympia High School. Third: Austin Miner, Olympia High School.

Grade level winners:

Tenth grade, first: William Hoza, Olympia High School. Second: Chris Han, Stadium High School. Third: Dylan Mackenzie, Tumwater High School.

Eleventh grade, first: Austin Miner, Olympia High School. Second: Yuchen Mou, Olympia High School. Third: Kirsten Allen, Olympia High School.

Twelfth grade, first: Erik Chou, Stadium High School. Second: Richard Lee, Stadium High School.
