A 13-year-old Komachin Middle School student reported that someone tried to lure her into a dark blue minivan shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Principal Joyce Ott sent a letter home Wednesday telling families about the incident. According to the letter, a white man described as about 35 years old with brown hair rolled down the van’s window and asked the student if she wanted a ride. The girl said no and ran home.
“We will review safety precautions with students here at school, reminding them to walk in groups or pairs rather than alone when walking to and from school and when they are out in the community, and to be alert to what is going on around them,” Ott wrote. “We share your desire to keep all children safe and we will keep you informed on any new developments.”
