Service Employees International Union officials expect several hundred participants for a rally today, they announced in a Wednesday news release.
They have declared a one-day regional strike for community mental-health workers. They said they also will seek improved services for clients.
They will meet at Sylvester Park at 10 a.m., then march for a noon rally around the Legislative Building.
There is only one scheduled committee meeting agenda today as the Legislature focuses on floor debates to pass legislation from the other chamber. Friday will be the last day to pass bills from the other chamber except initiatives, budget matters and reconciling differences in legislation between the two chambers.
Labor, Commerce, Research & Development: 8 a.m. public hearing on SGA 9253 and 9275 for members of Gambling Commission and the director of Department of Labor and Industries, SHR-4.
