ESSB 5352: Allocating expenditures in the 2009-11 Transportation Budget

ESSB 5352 makes appropriations to the state’s transportation agencies and programs for the 2009-11 fiscal biennium. The Senate transportation package is approximately $4.4 billion and includes about $500 million in federal stimulus money. ESSB 5352, which is estimated to fund more than 400 transportation related projects, passed the Senate by a vote of 41 to 8 and the House by a vote of 77 to 19 and is now before the governor for signature.

ESHB 1244: Making 2009-2011 operating budget appropriations

ESHB 1244, which passed the House by a vote of 54 to 42 and the Senate by a vote of 29 to 20, sets appropriations for the 2009-11 biennium at $31.4 billion. The total budget, including dedicated and federal funds, is $58.7 billion. ESHB 1244 also reduces the 2007-09 budget appropriation by $456 million. The Operating Budget funds various operations of state government, agencies and institutions, as well as for K-12 public schools. ESHB 1244 is now before the governor for signature.

ESHB 1216: Capital budget appropriations for 2009-11

ESHB 1216 authorizes $3 billion in new capital projects, in part through the financing of general obligation bonds totaling $1.8 billion. In addition, ESHB 1216 re-appropriates $2.4 billion for projects yet to be completed from the previous biennium. ESHB 1216 passed the House by a vote of 61 to 35 and the Senate by a vote of 31 to 15. Capital Budget appropriations include uses such as acquisition, construction, and repair of capital assets such as state office buildings, prisons, juvenile rehabilitation centers, mental health facilities, public health facilities, and higher education facilities. ESHB 1216 has been delivered to the governor for signature.
