State takes action on health providers

The Washington State Department of Health has taken disciplinary actions or withdrawn charges against the following health care providers in South Sound.

• In March, the board of osteopathic medicine and surgery placed the license of Eric D. Thomas in Thurston County on probation for three years. Thomas allowed an unlicensed person to administer medications and draw blood, failed to keep adequate records for patients, failed to respond to department requests for records and responses to complaints and failed to adequately maintain medications in his clinic, according to the Health Department.

• In April, the nursing assistant program placed the certification of certified nursing assistant Brittney N. White in Lewis County on probation for one year. She had a romantic relationship with a patient, according to the health department.

Patients who think a health care provider acted unprofessionally can register a complaint by calling 360-236-4700.
