Flags lowered in tribute to Custer soldier

Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed that flags at all state agency buildings be lowered to half-staff today in memory of U.S. Army Spc. Aaron S. Aamot of Custer. Aamot was killed last week in Afghanistan when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle.

Flags should remain at half-staff until the close of business today or first thing Friday.

Other government entities, residents and businesses are encouraged to join in the recognition.
