The state Transportation Department says a weekend inspection of Seattle's Alaskan Way Viaduct found that a column had settled by a half-inch since July.
The department said the column in downtown Seattle has settled nearly an inch and a half since the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake. However, it said that’s still well within the 6-inch threshold for column safety.
