SPOKANE, Wash. – One of three nominees to fill a vacant Washington state Senate seat from Spokane County was arrested in Las Vegas with a gun.
The Spokesman-Review reports 26-year-old Roy Murry was arrested early Monday when an officer found him asleep in his car and allegedly carrying a concealed weapon in his waistband.
Murry disputes the accusations and says he'll fight if charges are filed. Murry says he told officers about the gun in his waistband before he got out of the car. He says he had pulled over to rest his eyes and fell asleep.
Murry and two others were nominated by Republicans Jan. 15 to replace Sen. Bob McCaslin who had to step down because of health problems.
The choice is up to Spokane County commissioners.
