TUMWATER - Thurston County elections staff members plan an April 13 workshop for candidates who expect to run this year. The event runs 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the county auditor's ballot-processing center, 2905 29th Ave. S.W., Suite E, in Tumwater. It's in Mottman Industrial Park.

Candidate filing in Washington can be done by mail starting May 21. However, filings are not processed until filing week, which runs from 8 a.m. June 7 through 5 p.m. June 11 (closing time varies by county). Online filing runs 9 a.m. June 7-4 p.m. June 11, according to the Office of the Secretary of State.
