Democrats set conventions, will elect state delegates

OLYMPIA - Democrats in Thurston and Mason counties will hold conventions to elect state delegates April 10.

Thurston County Democrats will hold their county convention and legislative caucuses at Capital High School in west Olympia on April 10. Democrats will hold their state convention June 25-26 in Vancouver.

The Mason County Democrats will hold their biennial convention at the Pioneer Primary Schools’ multipurpose room at 110 E. Spencer Lake Road, Shelton.

Both events are expected to draw candidates for congressional, legislative and local races. Party delegates also typically hammer out the language of position platforms that are forwarded to the state conventions.

The Thurston County GOP held its county convention Saturday, electing delegates and approving a platform that will be forwarded to the Republican state convention June 10-12 in Vancouver. Republicans in Pierce, Snohomish, Skagit, Island and Pend Oreille counties also will hold convention meetings April 10 in preparation for their state convention.
